Description

Birch Faced Plywood, Waterproof

This engineered wood product is manufactured by bonding together a number of wood veneers under pressure, with the grain of each layer oriented perpendicular to the adjacent one, enhancing its structural integrity. The individual veneers have a thickness ranging from 1.4 mm to 3.2 mm.

Moisture Content:

Plywood typically has a moisture content ranging from 7% to 12%. Variations in moisture levels can influence the plywood’s characteristics.

Temperature Tolerance:

The material maintains its properties within a temperature spectrum of -160°C to +100°C.

Outdoor Application:

When used outdoors, plywood must undergo specific treatments. Its edges should be thoroughly sealed and safeguarded against moisture penetration.

Durability:

Plywood’s durability is influenced by the type of wood used, the veneer thickness, and the orientation of the grain. The surface material quality does not impact its strength properties.

Water Resistance:

Per EN314-2 standards, the adhesive used in plywood is water-resistant, not the wood itself. The plywood is made from untreated wood and requires additional protection on its surfaces and edges to be fully water-resistant.

Product Image Notice:

The image provided is for illustrative purposes only, representing just a section of the entire product. Wood, being a natural substance, exhibits a variety of patterns, textures, and hues. Due to these natural variations, each piece of wood is unique, and differences are even present within a single product, underscoring the organic provenance of the material.

Grades

Birch Plywood Grades:

Birch plywood is categorized into various grades based on the quality and appearance of the veneer surfaces. The grading system generally ranges from the highest quality (Grade B) to the lowest (Grade C), with different combinations denoting the expected quality on each side of the plywood.

BB/BB Grade Birch Plywood:

  • The "BB" grade includes small knots, slight discoloration, and minor repairs with wood patches. The "BB" grade is suitable for surfaces that will be seen but not focal, or where additional treatment like painting or staining is planned.

BB/CP Grade Birch Plywood:

  • The "BB" grade side permits small knots and minor repairs, used for applications where some aesthetic appeal is needed but minor imperfections are acceptable.
  • The "CP" grade side allows for more noticeable irregularities compared to "BB" grade, including larger knots, visible patches, and variations in grain and color. The "CP" side is appropriate for structural uses or where appearance is less of a concern, such as areas that will be obscured by other materials or finishes.

C/C Grade Birch Plywood:

  • The "C" grade side allows for larger and more numerous imperfections than the "BB" or "CP" grades. This includes significant knots, visible grain irregularities, larger patches, and pronounced color variations. The surface may be less smooth, making it less suitable for applications where appearance is key.

In all grades, the plies are bonded with strong adhesives, ensuring structural soundness and moisture resistance if properly treated. The choice between grades like B/BB, BB/CP, and C/C often depends on balancing the need for a high-quality finish on one or both sides of the plywood against the project's budget constraints. B/BB grade is preferred for high-end work where surface quality is paramount on at least one side. In contrast, BB/CP and C/C are more cost-effective options for projects where surface imperfections are less critical or will be covered. C/C grade, in particular, is ideal for budget-conscious projects requiring sturdy, functional plywood without the need for a fine finish.
